About
St Faith's High School is an Anglican boys' boarding institution located approximately 17 kilometers from Rusape, in Manicaland Province, Zimbabwe. Established in 1966, the school has a long-standing history of providing education to young men in the region. As of 2022, the headmaster is Mr. Arnold Makamba, who has been leading the school since at least that year.
The school caters to students from Form 1 through Upper Six, offering both Ordinary Level (O Level) and Advanced Level (A Level) examinations under the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) and Cambridge curricula. With an enrollment of approximately 700 to 800 students, St Faith's High School emphasizes a holistic approach to education, focusing on intellectual, spiritual, and physical development.
School History
St Faith's Mission was established by Anglican missionaries around 1903. Initially, it served as a primary school and later became a boarding institution for both boys and girls. In 1949, Molly and Guy Clutton-Brock arrived to manage the mission farm, transforming it into a cooperative known for its resistance to the Rhodesian government.
The secondary school for boys was established around 1965 on the site of the original primary school, leading to the relocation of the primary school across the Jordan River to the old Clutton-Brock Farm. In 1961, the mission was disbanded to make way for the boys' secondary school, and the mission farm was divided into smaller parcels distributed to mission workers. Forms 5 and 6 were introduced in 1987, expanding the school's academic offerings.
Academic and Extracurricular Activities
St Faith's High School has a reputation for academic excellence. In the 2021 Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations, the school achieved notable results, with a 98.79% pass rate at O Level and a 99.2% pass rate at A Level. These achievements are attributed to a strong reading culture and dedicated study routines among students.
Beyond academics, the school offers various extracurricular activities, including sports and cultural programs, to promote the holistic development of its students. The institution emphasizes discipline, dedication, and a commitment to excellence in all endeavors, preparing students for future academic and professional pursuits.
