How E-Creator could have become a million dollar company in Zimbabwe
As one of the victims of the E-Creator pyramid scheme in 2023 I know the feeling we all had, knowing it might end but counting on stopping after a few profits. I couldn't help but imagine the possibilities of what the company would have turned into and will talk about it in this article.
E-Creator background check
Basically E-Creator was introduced as a revolutionary way for Zimbabweans to make money online in January 2023. Most people including me ignored this as one of the self proclaimed businesses which are all talk. As time went on the pyramid scheme started to grow and with testimonies of massive cash withdrawals people started to join in hundreds if not thousands per day.
As shown on the image above E-Creator bought many people together through a system of affiliate marketing where one person would invite others in order to earn more. It was all well orchastrated, if you ask me Zhao Jiatong the founder of the E-Creator scheme is a real pro for making this illusion. There is much more to it and for the inner workings of e-creator you can read on Tech Zim Blog.
E-Creator as a multi-million dollar company in Zimbabwe
Now onto the main story of this article. Here are 3 differents ways in which E-Creator could have been turned into a long lasting company in Zimbabwe:
1. Through Re-investment
The cashflow through e-creator was over $10,000 per month and although the idea is a gamble their alleged use of crypto currency to move money could have also meant investing in crypto-currencies. With such amounts the risk would be large but since we are just imagining then the sky is the limit.
They could have invested the money into the stock market or another business basically the E-Creator app would be a source of funding from which they would spin the funds, send back some profits and keep the rest. The success rate of this would be below 20% so don't think of trying it yourself.
2. Pay-to-Click (PTC) Business
On the surface E-Creator made users believe they were actually buying products, leaving reviews and getting their money back with a profit. This made sense when you consider the fact that some companies actually do pay for reviews. Of course it was just a facade nothing was really happening but these kind of businesses do exist. These include Swaggbucks and Clixsense but i cannot confirm their effectiveness.
If indeed E-Creator could land such a deal with e-commerce platforms to exchange fake purchases and reviews for additional profits which would be lowered unlike the high profits E-Creator actually gave maybe it would have been sustainable. This might be illegal in some states but besides that it is very unethical. Even so these businesses do exist and have a higher success rate given how eager people are for easy money.
3. Advertising
E-creator lasted for 8 months and at its peak their site e-creatoerzw.co.zw (yes we all ignored the spelling as a sign of illegitmacy) had over half a million monthly users. They could have leveraged this large user base to give advertising space to businesses directly or through ad networks such as Google Adsense .
Given E-Creator continued to grow to over a million monthly users they could make an average of $40,000 from adsense revenue as shown in the image above. Taking into consideration they had to give users their promised profits this would maybe go down to $15 - $25K profit for them which is still not bad for a start as they would continue to grow. Note that the success rate of this is actually lower as adsense revenue is more complicated than it seems on the surface so figures might have turned out lower than this.
Final Thoughts
Anyways fact doesn't change E-Creator was an unfortunate incident. We fell for it due to different reasons maybe ignorance, foolishness, or just being desperate but on the bright side some learnt their lesson. Thanks for reading up to this point. These were just sparkles of a now impossible future but who knows, maybe for some legit company these imaginative thoughts might come in handy.
